Golf 

Although the city has some really beautiful courses they are mostly very private, with limited public access.  You must have an invitation from a member.  The one exception is Club de Golf - Hacienda el Mirador, located in the hills just out of town. The 18 hole, 70 par course is laid out among hills and and valleys and is rather rough.  This course is probably not really worth the effort to pack and carry your clubs along on a trip to Monterrey.  You can rent clubs at the course, bring some comfortable shoes as there are no carts available - caddies are available.  Green fees are very reasonable!   

Tennis

The warm days and cool nights, that prevail most of the year, will invite you to go out and play some tennis.  In the summer you will probably want to play only at night.  As with the golf situation in Monterrey, most of the tennis is played in, very modern, yet very private settings.   Centro Tenístico de Nuevo León is a modern tennis facility with thirty lighted courts and is available to the general public on an hourly basis.  It is open from 7 AM to 10 PM.   A few of the hotels will let non guests play on their courts for a small fee.  Call ahead for availability of courts and remember not all of the facilities will always have English speaking personnel.
