Monterrey real estate is  different than what the average person might expect in other Mexican cities. Tract homes are now the rule, rather than the exception.  Promotion and sale of these new tracts is carried out much like in the U.S.  Many newer, gated communities are located outside the city limits, most notably in San Pedro Garcia Garza and the surrounding hillsides. These developments offer golf or mountain view homes with wide landscaped streets, and the prices reflect the status associated with owning in these exclusive areas.  There are also a growing number of, not so exclusive, upper and middle class developments and neighborhoods which offer a comfortable lifestyle as well as a good value for the potential resident.
